Ekurhuleni means the place of peace, lies in the east of Johannesburg, is an area comprising of amazing lakes, wetlands, glitzy casinos, mega shopping malls, quiet nature reserves, lively townships and historical towns.
It’s also home to South Africa’s Biggest, busiest airport, OR Tambo International Airport, named after Nelson Mandela’s colleague, friend and liberation hero, Oliver Tambo. Aviation Museum of South Africa, The museum is based at Rand Airport in East of Joburg, it houses a fascinating collection of airline artifacts and memorabilia from bygone era. Included is a library with over thousands aviation related books. From there, we will depart to O.R. Tambo Cultural Precinct which a must visit museum that attributes to the legacy of O.R. Tambo and his stature as leader. The O.R. Tambo Education and Narrative Centre, interpreting the life and legacy of O.R Tambo through exhibitions; a Craft Centre, Just before mid-day, we will travel exploring the city of Ekurhuleni ± 20 KM to Tembisa Township one of the vibrant suburbs in north of Joburg where we will have lunch at of the African Food Restaurant and interact with the locals.
